Who We Are

The North of England Refugee Service was established in 1989. It is an independent and charitable organisation which exists to meet the needs and promote the interests of asylum seekers and refugees who have arrived or have settled in the North of England.

When I was granted my refugee status, I didn't have anywhere to go. I was waiting for my A-level results to start my university studies. If not for the NERS Housing Team, I would have been homeless, sleeping rough on the streets…and that would have made me live in stress and uncertainty and would have made it difficult or almost
