Community Organisers Programme

NERS is a host member of the national Community Organisers programme. The programme is about inspiring community action at a neighbourhood level. Community Organisers listen to the concerns of people in their area, build relationships and help people to take action on their own behalf on the local issues that matter to them.

Our two community organizers are helping residents in “deprived” areas in Newcastle to build relationships throughout the community, engage effectively with other groups and service providers and ultimately take control of what matters to them. They also work with them to realise their potential, develop leadership skills, build their confidence and meet new people. This reduces exclusion and builds lasting connections.

The aim is to lay foundations of stability by generating sustainable projects and businesses that provide income for the community.
